Naadham Academy for Music and Dance was founded in 1988 by Sri Vasudevan Govindarajan. The academy has been training young Canadians who are interested and dedicated in preserving and understanding the exquisite tradition of Indian music and dance.
Classes are offered for beginners and advanced students in Mridangam, Carnatic music and Bharathanatyam. Each student is given individual attention to reach their full potential as musicians and dancers. Over the years, Vasu and Uma have been promoting appreciation for South Asian Music and Dance in Canada. They have been pursuing their artistic mission through teaching, performing and composing music. For the past 29 years, the school has had many areas of involvement for students and audiences including concerts, classes, as well as lecture demonstrations in schools and universities.
Students of Naadham have participated in major festivals in North America and have won prizes in music competitions. Naadham also offers workshops conducted by leading dancers and Gurus from India.
